Why crypto for airtime

Why pay for airtime with crypto

In much of the world, phones run on prepaid credit. People buy airtime as they go and spend it on calls, texts or data bundles. Buying it usually means cash at a shop or a local bank card.

Neither helps when your money is in crypto, or when the phone belongs to family in another country. A top-up paid in crypto puts credit straight on the line, and the person on the other end does not have to do anything.

The payout covers prepaid numbers in 150+ countries. You give us the number with its country code, choose an amount and send your coins. No operator login, no name, no app on their side.

Helping family

Phone credit or cash for family?

A top-up starts at $50 and a cash pickup at $100, and both reach family abroad. Choose by what the money is for.

Western Union or MoneyGram cash

  • Cash they can spend on anything
  • Up to $5,000 per order
  • 1.5% plus the provider's transfer cost, not 1%
  • They travel to an agent with ID

ZilligoZilligo mobile top-up

  • 1% fee, so $3 on a $300 top-up
  • Lands on the phone, nothing to collect
  • Only the phone number needed
  • Credit pays for calls, texts and data only

    The credit reaches the line

When your coins confirm, the top-up goes to the operator. The balance updates, often with a text from the network.

What you need

Four things a top-up needs

The number with its country code

For example +234 for Nigeria or +63 for the Philippines.

A prepaid line

Lines on a monthly plan take top-ups only with some operators.

Coins in any wallet

BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, XRP or XMR.

$50 to $300

Per order. Top up again whenever you need more.

What it is good for

Ways to use crypto phone credit

Keep family reachableCredit for parents or relatives abroad, with no trip to a shop.

Turn credit into data

On many networks the balance buys a data bundle in the operator's app or with a dial code.

Cover several phones

One order per number, for family members or staff.

Recharge a travel SIMTop up a local SIM you picked up on a trip.

Cost and speed

1% on top, credit in minutes

One of our lowest fees, shown before you pay. On a small top-up, the coin you pick matters more than the fee.

Your coin's network cost is extra: a fraction of a cent on Solana or XRP, roughly $2 to $4 for USDT on Tron.

Our pick for top-ups: Solana or XRP. Both confirm in under a minute for a fraction of a cent. USDT on Tron costs about $2 to $4 to send, which is a big slice of a $50 top-up.

Number format

Writing the number the right way

Top-ups use the international format: a plus sign, the country code, then the number with its local leading zero dropped.

People can keep their number when they move to another operator, so the first digits do not prove which network a line is on. Ask them.

Mobile Top-Up logoExamples

07700 900123

Get it right

Five checks before you top up

  1. 1

Get the number from the person

Copy it from a message they sent you rather than typing it from memory.

  2. 2

    Confirm their operator today

Numbers move between networks, and the first digits will not tell you which one.

  3. 3

    Check the line is prepaid

Top-ups are made for prepaid credit. Monthly plans accept them only with some operators.

  4. 4

Add the tag when paying with XRP

Your order shows a destination tag next to the address. Without it, the payment can go unmatched.

  5. 5

Ask them to reply when it lands

That proves the number and operator are right, so every later top-up is a repeat.

Troubleshooting

When a top-up goes wrong

The credit has not shown up

Check that your order page says the top-up was sent. Not every network texts for each top-up, so ask the person to check the balance in the operator's app or with its balance code. Still nothing? Send support the order reference and the number.

I typed the wrong number

Contact support at once with your order reference. If the top-up has not gone out, we can correct it. Credit that reached another live number usually cannot be pulled back.

The operator refused the top-up

This can happen with some monthly-plan lines, or when the number has moved to another network. Send support your order reference and we look into it.

The amount on the phone looks different

Credit shows in local currency, and some operators sell fixed amounts or add tax. Your order page shows exactly what was sent.

FAQ

Crypto top-ups, answered

Not sure their operator is covered? Ask us before you order, we usually reply within an hour.

How do I top up a phone with crypto?

Choose mobile top-up, enter the number with its country code and an amount from $50 to $300, then send the coins shown on your order page. The credit goes to the phone once they confirm.

Can I buy airtime with Bitcoin?

Yes. Bitcoin works, and so do USDT, Ether, BNB, Solana, XRP and Monero. Bitcoin can take 10 to 30 minutes to confirm, while Solana and XRP take under a minute and cost less than a cent to send.

Can I top up a phone in another country?

Yes. The number does not need to be in the country where you live. Top-ups reach prepaid lines in 150+ countries.

Does the person need a crypto wallet or an app?

No. They only need the phone they already use. The credit lands on their line like any other top-up.

How long does a crypto top-up take?

Usually a few minutes after your coins confirm. With Solana or XRP, the whole thing is often done in a few minutes; with Bitcoin, allow for the confirmation time.

How much does it cost?

1% on top of the credit, plus your coin's network cost. $100 of credit asks for $101 worth of coins. Paid in Solana, a $50 top-up comes to about $50.51 all in.

What is the smallest and largest top-up?

Each order is $50 to $300. For a few dollars of credit, a store that sells small top-ups will suit you better.

Can the credit be used for mobile data?

On many networks the top-up lands as a general balance, and the person then turns some of it into a data or calls bundle in the operator's app or with a short dial code.

Does prepaid credit expire?

That depends on the operator. Some give prepaid balance a validity period, so ask the person how their network handles unused credit before you send a large amount.

Can I top up a phone on a monthly plan?

Top-ups are made for prepaid lines. Some operators accept them on monthly plans and many do not, so check with the person first.

Can I top up the same number again?

Yes. Each order is separate, so you can top up again whenever they need it. The limits page lists every cap.

Is buying phone credit with crypto taxable?

Spending crypto can count as selling it in many countries, which may be taxable. This is general information, not tax advice, so check your local rules.
