About USDT

The network is the only real decision

USDT holds its dollar value, so the usual worry about the price moving while you wait hardly applies. What matters is which chain your USDT sits on. It exists on many, and an order takes two of them: Tron (TRC-20) and Ethereum (ERC-20). USDT on BNB Chain, Solana, TON, Arbitrum or Polygon cannot be credited to an order.

The cheaper of the two has flipped. From your own wallet in early November 2026, an ERC-20 transfer cost under a cent because Ethereum gas sat near 0.05 gwei, while a TRC-20 transfer burned 6.5 to 13 TRX, about $2 to $4. From an exchange the picture changes again, because each exchange sets its own flat fee per network. The arithmetic is in USDT network fees, and the side-by-side in TRC-20 vs ERC-20.

Each network also needs its own fuel. A TRC-20 send from a personal wallet needs TRX, or staked energy, for the fee, and an ERC-20 send needs a little ETH. A wallet that holds only USDT cannot send it until you add some.

Picking BEP-20, Solana or TON on the withdraw screen

Exchanges list USDT on many networks and often put a cheap one first. Only TRC-20 and ERC-20 reach an order; anything else becomes a recovery case, covered in USDT sent on the wrong network.

An address that does not match the network

A Tron address starts with T and an Ethereum address with 0x. If your order shows a T address, the withdraw screen must say TRC-20 or Tron.

Sending the amount minus the exchange fee

Exchanges take a flat USDT fee per withdrawal, and it differs a lot by network and exchange. Add it on top so the exact order amount lands.

No TRX or ETH in the wallet

A personal wallet with USDT but no TRX or ETH cannot pay the network fee, so the send fails or never starts.

    A transfer to an address that has never held USDT, such as a new order address, burns about 13 TRX, plus a little for bandwidth.

    Check the contract when a token looks odd

    Real USDT on Tron is contract TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t, and on Ethereum 0xdAC17F958D2ee523a2206206994597C13D831ec7. A look-alike token with the same name is not USDT.

Most often the wallet had no TRX for the fee. A TRC-20 transfer burns TRX unless you have staked for energy, so add around 15 TRX and try again.

Hardly. It tracks the US dollar, and your quote is held for 20 minutes from when you create the order, as long as you send within that time.
