The short answer

To sell Monero for cash, create an order with your payout, then send the exact XMR shown to the order address from your Monero wallet. Monero adds a block about every 2 minutes and locks newly received XMR for 10 blocks, so allow around 20 minutes. The payout follows: minutes for PayPal, gift cards or the virtual Visa, 1 to 2 hours for SEPA. Our fee is 1% to 2%.

About XMR

Where Monero can still be sold, and what privacy covers

Monero hides the sender, the receiver and the amount on its chain by default. That is why regulated exchanges struggle to keep it: OKX dropped it in January 2024, Binance in February 2024, and Kraken ended XMR for customers in the European Economic Area at the end of October 2024. An EU rule due to apply from July 2027 bars providers from keeping accounts that hold coins like it.

Zilligo accepts XMR on the Monero network as one of its seven coins. You send from your own wallet, such as Cake Wallet, Feather, Monerujo or the official GUI and CLI wallets, and choose any of the 22 payouts.

Be clear about what privacy covers. Monero shields the payment on its own chain. The payout does not: a PayPal email, an IBAN or a pickup name points to a person, and Zilligo keeps order records for 5 years. Every order is reviewed under our AML policy, and orders linked to fraud or stolen funds can be refused. Anonymous crypto payments explains where the lines sit.

Timing is the one practical difference from other coins. New XMR is locked for 10 blocks, about 20 minutes, so a Monero payout starts later than one from Solana or XRP. Your rate still holds, as long as the payment leaves your wallet within the 20 minutes after you create the order.

What trips up XMR senders

A short check here keeps your order on track.

Sending from an exchange that has paused XMR

If an exchange has stopped Monero withdrawals in your region, the coins cannot leave it. Check before you create an order, because the rate is held for 20 minutes.

Typing or half-copying the address

Monero addresses run to 95 characters or more. Paste or scan the address, then check its first and last characters.

Expecting it as fast as XRP or Solana

New XMR stays locked for 10 blocks. Plan on about 20 minutes before your payout starts.

Treating the cashout as anonymous

The payout goes to an account or a named person, and order records are kept for 5 years. Use XMR for lawful purposes only.

Step by step

Selling Monero, from order to payout

  1. 1

    Create the order

Choose the payout and amount. The order shows the XMR to send, to six decimals, and the address.

  2. 2

    Send from your Monero wallet

Paste the address into Cake Wallet, Feather, Monerujo or the official wallet, enter the exact amount and send at normal priority.

  3. 3

Wait for the lock, then get paid

After about 20 minutes the XMR is final and we send your payout. Your order page shows the progress.

Tips

Before your next Monero sale

  1. 1

    Let the wallet finish syncing

A Monero wallet that is still syncing can show the wrong balance. Wait until it is up to date before you send.

  2. 2

Keep the transaction ID and key

Monero wallets can show a transaction key that proves a payment to an address. Share it with support only if they ask about a missing payment, and never share your seed or spend key.

  3. 3

    Leave room for the fee

Monero fees are low, but sending your whole balance still needs room for one. Use the wallet's send-all option if you want everything gone.

  4. 4

Keep the order for your records

Selling XMR is usually taxable like any other coin. Save the order page; the tax guide covers what to keep.

Questions

Questions about selling Monero

Sent to the wrong network? Tell support and include your order reference and transaction ID.

How do I sell Monero for cash?

Create an order with the payout you want, then send the exact XMR it shows from your Monero wallet to the order address. Once the payment is final, we send the money.

How long does a Monero cashout take?

Plan for about 20 minutes, because new XMR is locked for 10 blocks of about 2 minutes each. After that, PayPal, gift cards and the virtual Visa pay out within minutes, and SEPA in 1 to 2 hours.

Why have exchanges dropped Monero?

Its privacy makes the payment checks regulated exchanges must run very hard. OKX, Binance and, for EEA customers, Kraken dropped it in 2024, and an EU rule from July 2027 goes further.

Do I need a payment ID?

No. Paste the address from your order as it is; it is all the order needs to find your payment.

Is selling Monero here anonymous?

No. Monero keeps the payment private on its chain, but the payout goes to an account or a named person, a free account is needed, and order records are kept for 5 years. Every order is reviewed under our AML policy.

Which wallets can I use?

Any Monero wallet that sends on the main network, for example Cake Wallet, Feather, Monerujo or the official GUI and CLI wallets.

Is my rate held while the XMR is locked?

Yes, if the payment leaves your wallet within the 20 minutes after you create the order. The hold covers sending, so the 10-block lock does not change your payout.
