Why MoneyGram
Cash for people who never open a banking app
MoneyGram pays out cash through more than 470,000 locations, many of them inside shops, pharmacies and supermarkets. The person collecting shows ID, gives a reference number and leaves with the money.
That suits relatives who do not use banks or apps, and places where cash is simply easier. Paying for the transfer is the snag: MoneyGram expects cash, a card or a bank account from the sender.
Here your crypto covers that part. Give us the recipient's name and country, send your coins, and once they confirm we book the transfer and show you the reference number on your order page to share.
MoneyGram and crypto
What about MoneyGram's own crypto cash-out?
MoneyGram does turn some crypto into cash, through partner wallets and exchanges. The limits are in which coins it takes and who can collect.
MoneyGram's crypto partners
- Mainly USDC, on networks such as Stellar and Solana
- Only inside a partner wallet or exchange, usually after ID checks
- The account holder collects, not someone you choose
- Useful if you already hold USDC in a supported app
Zilligo to MoneyGram
- Seven coins, Bitcoin and USDT included
- Sent from any wallet or exchange
- Cash for anyone you name, in the country you pick
- A 1.5% fee plus the transfer cost, both shown before you send

Fee and timing
1.5% plus the transfer cost, cash usually ready the same day
Our 1.5% and MoneyGram's transfer cost are added on top, each on its own line in the quote. Your coin decides how soon we can book the transfer.
Example
The total includes MoneyGram's transfer cost, $5 on $420. It is 1% per $1,000 or part of it, at least $5 and never more than $64. Plus your coin's network cost: a fraction of a cent on Solana or XRP, about $2 to $4 for USDT on Tron.
Our pick for MoneyGram: USDT on Tron. It confirms in a couple of minutes and holds its dollar value, so the amount you planned is the amount you send.
How long each coin takes to confirm. We book the MoneyGram transfer once they have.

Five tips for a MoneyGram pickup
- 1
Use the full name on their ID
A nickname, a missing middle name or a swapped surname can stop the payout.
- 2
Name the person who will walk in
Nobody can collect on someone else's behalf.
- 3
Tell them to bring the original ID
A photocopy is usually turned down.
- 4
Keep the reference private
Share it only with the recipient.
- 5
Ignore anyone asking you to pay first
Prizes, jobs and loans that want money by MoneyGram up front are scams.
Support
When a MoneyGram pickup stalls
The location would not pay out
Usually the name and the ID do not match. Contact support with your order reference and the name exactly as it appears on the ID.
No reference number yet
It appears on your order page once the payout is marked sent. If your coins have confirmed and it still isn't there after a few hours, message support with your order reference.
They cannot find a location nearby
MoneyGram's location finder on its website lists agents by town or postcode, including ones inside shops and pharmacies.
I need to change or stop the transfer
Contact support right away with your order reference. Before the cash is collected, we check what can still be changed.

FAQ
Crypto to MoneyGram, answered
Not sure which network to use? Ask us, we usually reply within an hour.
How do I send crypto to MoneyGram?
Choose MoneyGram, enter the recipient's full name, the collection country and the amount, then send the coins shown on your order page. Once they confirm, we book the transfer and show you the reference number on your order page.
Can I send Bitcoin to MoneyGram?
A regular MoneyGram transfer is paid with cash, a card or a bank account, not Bitcoin. With us you pay in Bitcoin, or any of six other coins, and we fund the MoneyGram transfer.
What is the MoneyGram reference number?
An 8-digit number that identifies the transfer. The recipient gives it at the counter, together with their ID, to collect the cash.
What does the recipient need to collect?
The reference number and an original, valid photo ID with the same name as on the order. Accepted IDs vary by country, and some countries also ask for proof of address.
Can someone else collect for them?
No. Only the person named on the transfer can pick up the cash, so put the name of whoever will walk in.
How soon can the cash be picked up?
Usually the same day, once your coins confirm and the transfer is booked.
Where can the cash be collected?
At MoneyGram locations in the country you chose, often inside shops, pharmacies and supermarkets. MoneyGram's location finder shows the nearest ones.
What does it cost?
Our fee is 1.5%. MoneyGram's transfer cost comes on top: 1% of the payout for each $1,000 or part of it, never less than $5 or more than $64, so $5 on $420. Your quote shows both lines before you send, and your coin's normal network cost is separate. For $420 to collect, you send $431.30 worth of coins: $6.30 to us and $5 transfer cost.
How much can I send?
Each order is between $100 and $5,000.
MoneyGram or Western Union?
With us both cost 1.5% plus the same transfer cost, and take $100 to $5,000. Pick the one with a location closer to the person collecting. Western Union uses a 10-digit MTCN, MoneyGram an 8-digit reference.
Do I need a Zilligo account?
Yes, a free one that takes about a minute. After that we only ask for the recipient's name and country. There is no ID check to start a cashout.
